Employment-Seeking Visa for Foreign Professionals

Q1: What is an Employment-Seeking visa?
A1: A foreign professional who plans to engage in professional work in Taiwan may apply for an Employment-Seeking visa at an overseas mission of ROC. The multiple-entry visa valid for three months and allows for a stay in Taiwan of up to a maximum of six months.

Q2: How can I apply for an Employment-Seeking visa?
A2: Applicant who meets one of the following criteria is eligible to apply for an Employment-Seeking visa at overseas

□ Employment experience, with an average monthly salary or remuneration over the past six months that is not lower than the amount of NT$47,971
□ Graduated within the past year from any of the world's top 500 universities as listed by the ROC Ministry of Education, and not yet employed
□ Deemed otherwise eligible by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following consultations with the central competent authority

Q3: How can I apply for an Employment-Seeking visa in countries where there is no ROC embassy, consulate or representative office?

A3: Except for nationals of certain countries, applicants can apply for an Employment-Seeking visa at any ROC embassy, consulate or representative office. However, in order to facilitate the review process, we suggest that applicants submit applications in the countries where they reside or work.

Q4: How does a resident of Hong Kong or Macau engaging in professional work or seeking employment in the Taiwan Area apply for an entry permit?

A4:

1. In accordance with Article 19 of the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals, a foreign professional who plans to engage in professional work in the State, and who needs a long period to seek employment, may apply to an overseas mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the issuance of a six-month entry permit, valid for three months, for multiple entry, to stay for up to a maximum period of six months.

2. Besides, in accordance with Article 20 of the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals, residents of Hong Kong or Macau engaging in professional works or seeking employment in the Taiwan Area are subject, mutatis mutandis, to the provisions of Article 19. Therefore, residents of Hong Kong or Macau engaging in professional works or seeking employment in the Taiwan Area may apply to the National Immigration Agency, Ministry of the Interior, for  entry permits of a six-month, valid for three months, for multiple entry, to stay for up to a maximum period of six months.
